Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals Public Awareness Campaign
Client: Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals
Project: Create public awareness of a continuous quality insurance program in Saskatchewan called COMPASS being brought into bylaw.
Description: Communicate to the public:
- The COMPASS program – designed to reduce medication errors and ensure patient medication safety.
- Medication safety is constantly being practiced in pharmacies, but new tools and systems are continuously being developed to elevate safety even further. COMPASS is designed to provide continuous quality assurance to support the pharmacy team with procedures and protect patients.
- At the time, Saskatchewan was the second province in Canada to take this huge but ultimately important step.
- The key role patients play in maintaining their medication safety.
One of the speakers at the media event was a Mother from Ontario, Melissa Sheldrick, who lost her 8 year-old son to a medication error. She is now channeling her grief/loss in honour of the memory of Andrew into advocating for provinces to adopt medication quality insurance/safety programs to prevent this happening again.
